And I was reminded how much I want one….I didn't know they existed until a couple years ago, and I'm glad I discovered them
I'm also glad for the existence of the name Alcyone. And flat sixes. I want a flat six in my life.
Also it's really hard to find half decent pics of SVXs. Or I'm just bad at the internet.
Anyways, that's all.

One of the few cars I like better with an automatic. Sure the standard transmission is a piece of poo, but it's one of the biggest quirks of the car. People do manual swaps and I don't like that. It takes away character.

These things are cheap where I'm at, I've seen 2 in the past week.

All sorts of '90s Japanese goodness going on here.

There is a mint one near where I live here in Bulgaria and I like it, but not enough to ever think of buying one. Also it is auto only so this makes the want factor even smaller.

Really? I've never driven one so I wouldn't know, but I do like the sound of H6 plus MT…..

Fair enough, I've seen you can do impreza tranny swaps easily though. Or Legacy….I can't remember

I know! I was looking at one on CL and showed my Dad, his response was "oh yeah, that old subaru with the dumb windows"
He just doesn't understand…..

Also that interior, it looks so dated for a 90s car. I know Japanese companies don't know how to built nice looking things, but damn thats fugly.

I haven't either, but it's just fascinating because it's part of why the car wasn't really well-received. It was only offered with an auto which just wasn't strong enough to last. It was almost as bad as if you had a manual and only used the clutch "when you felt like it." That's probably an exaggeration, but yeah. I've just always found it fascinating how they put the wrong transmission in there and never gave anyone a choice in the matter.

Dumb to some, super awesome to others!.... the only real concern with getting one of these is parts/repairs. Idk what the availability of parts is like for these, I'm scared to find out..

Yeah, there's usually a whole lot of people who keep them for a while. Kinda like how I see Isuzu Vehicrosses and Nissan Pulsar GTI-Rs occasionally, but no one ever puts one up for sale.

my brother had one for a while, it went all right and sounded amazing.
In desperate need of a manual though.

It's easier for me to find a SVX than a GL or a XT. $1500, $2500, $5500. The 2500 one has rebuilt everything including the trans. The 1500 one has a broken trans. The 5500 one is delusional.
Would it fit my personality? probably My utility needs? No.
A H6 to fit in a 2100lb chassis? Oh me.

A friend of mine had one of these for a year or so. Definitely a neat looking car, but pretty underwhelming overall. He was pretty happy with it though, since his previous car was an Eagle Talon.

It's a grand tourer, a classification of car that goes unnoticed in the Americas, or is clumped together with sports car, which the SVX obviously isn't.
The only problem having this H6 mated to Subaru's 4 speed auto is some heat soak issues.

The closest I came to getting one was when I was deciding between a $1700 SVX that needed aircare, and an $1100 Volvo 144 that needed aircare....I went and saw the Volvo first and couldn't not get it, but I still really want an SVX....

I can see that. So now I've got it figured out.. My sister's baby-cart was a 145 wagon. Tank.

Ooh, late grille. Cool. yeah it's definitely a tank. A friend and I had more luck pushing my dad's taurus on flat ground than my 140 :p
